Will Justice Prevail?

I am filled with unexplainable emotions after reading this investigation report by tehelka on Gujarat riots that happened in 2002. What is most shocking is the cold bloodiness and the lack of remorse in the minds of the accused even after 5 years. There is a saying in tamil - "Arasan andru kolvan. Deivam nindru kollum". Here the ruler and ruling body have committed the crime. Will at least God, in the name of whom everything has happened, provide justice?
Frontline had an article about the witnesses or rather the survivors of the massacre. One who has committed the crime is fearless while the other who has suffered doesn't get the courage to tell the truth. Ironically equality and justice are the defining principles of our constitution.
This also reminded me of the serial bomb blasts and the riots that followed in Coimbatore(or kovai), my home town. A very peaceful and industrial city took a long time to gain back normalcy. Very recently those who were accused have been sentenced. I only wish that truth prevailed and everyone who commited the sin of harming another human being, irrespective of which religion they belong to, have been punished.

Karunanidhi, chief minister of Tamil nadu, once again did what he does best. Whenever posed with a direct question or request, he seldom provides a meaningful reply. Either asks the questioner a question or as in this case deflects the request back to the requester. Probably his followers would love his cynicism. Karunanidhi can save a lot of time by just using the following phrase "Same to you".

Remix or rubbish

Recently there have been too many remix attempts in Tamil. I personally like a few. Remixing the best tunes of the same album in club mode have been my favorites sometimes bettering the original. to name a few - jalsa in Chennai 600028, loosu penne in vallavan. Some attempt to remix famous old songs which I wonder is probably because the music director couldn't come up with a catchy tune himself. These attempts more or less a miss than a hit. Probably the worst so far of such genre is the remix of Yengayum yeppodhum (http://www.raaga.com/getclip.asp?id=999999068964) in the movie Polladhavan. Even after numerous attempts I haven't been able to listen to the entire song. My only gripe is how could SPB lend his voice to this one. Its an atrociously disgraceful tribute to the original. At the same time I should appreciate the attempt to remix the song Adiye manam nilluna nikkadhadi (http://www.raaga.com/getclip.asp?id=999999068366) in the movie malaikotai. Tippu and Anuradha sriram have definitely contributed their bit to the success of this song.

What to write, What not to write

I have decided to post something to just get started. Every time I have a thought, even before it transforms into words, the topic becomes obsolete. Thus this post is my first with no definite thought in mind. Recently I did couple of things which I didn't even think I would do couple of months ago. One is sky diving (tandem jump). Its definitely worth experiencing once in a life time. The first few seconds after the jump is something that you can only experience in those first few seconds. Lately I have been feeling that fear of fear has been creeping into me with age. But this experience made one thing clear. I am only afraid of suspense, while falling through those hollow tubes of darkness (Noah's arc) or during the high speed shaky-forward-reverse ride in darkness (Mummy ride in Universal studios). When you jump from 2 miles above earth on a clear day, everything is there to see and gravity eventually brings you back home. Its time to end this post as my thought flow is out of sync with my word flow. As for the second thing that I did, it will be another post another day.
